Machining Magnesium

Machining Magnesium

Magnesium is a special kind of metal material in the CNC machine tool workshop. Its processing risk is high, and the debris produced in the CNC machining process is flammable, so it requires engineers to have a high magnesium machining experience.

More Details

The density of magnesium alloy is only 1.75-1.90 g/cm3, which is about 2/3 of aluminum alloy and 1/4 of steel. The weight of magnesium alloy is 1.5 times that of magnesium alloy, making it the lightest metal material and the third-largest engineering material after steel and aluminum alloy. It is also known as “green engineering materials.” The specific strength of magnesium alloy is higher than that of aluminum alloy and steel. The particular stiffness is similar to that of aluminum alloy and much higher than that of engineering plastics.
